Long term position for an experienced housekeeper for a private residence based in Cape Town, South Africa.
You will be responsible for cleaning, washing and ironing, making and changing beds – wardrobe management and arranging dry cleaning.
You will need an eye for detail, be well organised and be able to work without supervision.
It is essential that you have previous long term references and have previous experience working in a private family home or 5* hotel and have experience with special finishes, cleaning and caring for silver, antiques and fine fabrics.
You will be working as part of a team so it is essential that you are a good team player, flexible and take pride in your work. Flexible working hours which will include some weekend working. 2 days off per week. 5 star or boutique hotel experience a big plus.
Salary negotiable depending on experience.

What you’ll do

- Wash, rinse, and sanitise dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment
- Keep the kitchen area clean and organized, including countertops, floors, and storage areas
- Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks
- Ensure the kitchen is well-stocked with essential items like cleaning supplies, utensils, and kitchen ingredients
- Properly dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables, keeping the trash area clean
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, such as ovens, stovetops, and mixers
- Support kitchen operations by fetching ingredients, utensils, or any items needed by the kitchen staff
- Adhere to health and safety standards, including proper handling of food, wearing appropriate protective gear, and maintaining a hygienic workspace
- Keep track of food and ingredient inventory, rotating stock to ensure freshness
- Assist during meal service by helping with plating, garnishing, and ensuring that dishes are sent out in an organised manner
- Openly communicate with other kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and keep the kitchen running smoothly
- Be flexible and willing to take on various tasks as needed in a dynamic kitchen environment
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen team members to achieve common goals and provide efficient service
